SVT-AV1 Encoder based Efficiency Improvement of Screen Content Encoding

The AV1 encoder has a much slower encoding speed than H.264 and HEVC encoding due to its use of more complex algorithms and more computing resources. Although some algorithm optimizations have been carried out on the basis of the AV1 encoder to improve the encoding efficiency of the SVT-AV1 encoder, it is still a huge challenge to the level of large-scale application. To effectively solve the developed problem, this paper focuses on improving the encoding efficiency of screen content encoding in SVT-AV1 encoder. In this work, the encoding speed is improved by optimizing the palette table generation mode and intra block copy search prediction algorithm in SVT-AV1 encoder. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed optimization method is effective and can greatly improve the encoding efficiency of the encoder while ensuring video quality. In addition, the optimization method proposed in this paper is not only applicable to screen content videos, but also to other videos.
