An intelligent traffic monitoring system is underway in India, addressing the prevalent challenges in the diverse traffic landscape, including accidents due to factors like careless driving and inadequate infrastructure. The project utilizes Raspberry Pi and advanced computer vision techniques to establish a sophisticated monitoring infrastructure. The system's key goals involve vehicle recognition, speed estimation, and detection of violations like triple riding and helmet non-compliance. Violations, especially speeding incidents, are meticulously recorded, compiled in an Excel spreadsheet, and promptly forwarded via email for review and resolution. The integration of webcams with Raspberry Pi enables real-time traffic surveillance. Beyond enhancing traffic management, this technology aims to tackle road safety issues prevalent in various Indian traffic scenarios. Overall, the initiative emphasizes the crucial role of traffic system monitoring in ensuring safe and efficient road usage, reducing journey times and mitigating environmental impacts.
