Current Status and Characteristics of Buncheong Ware Excavated from Hakbong-ri Kilns, Gongju

The Buncheong ware in Hakbong-ri, Gongju, well-known as “Gyeryongsan Buncheong ware,” has been investigated since the Japanese colonial era, but its structure has since been clarified through re-investigation. Although it is a well-known feature of iron painting Buncheong ware, the most common combination of Inhwa and Gwiyal techniques was used. As for the pattern materials, fish, lotus ponds, and peony designs were representative. Prestigious government offices existed. The Buncheong ware point in Hakbong-ri is very important in ceramic history in that it shows the change in production. Because it has existed for a long period of time, the production of Buncheong ware under the name of the government office and the creativity of the iron painting technique can be found.
