Chapter 3 features scripts and activities/lesson plans for comparing and contrasting digital vs. physical/live photo, audio, and document data, and includes a reproducible Robot Dance Party Invitation. Lessons with handouts are also provided for collecting and presenting data using “Fun Size” M&M’s. These lessons incorporate graphing data, hand coloring and/or making digital graphs and making predictions (utilizing the steps in the Scientific Method). Chapter 3 also includes ideas for how to begin teaching kids about HTML and web design. Chapter 3 encompasses K-2 Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA) Standards 1A-DA-05: Store, copy, search, retrieve, modify, and delete information, using a computing device and define the information stored as data; 1A-DA-06: Collect and present the same data in various visual formats; and 1A-DA-07: Identify and describe patterns in data visualizations, such as charts or graphs, to make predictions.
