High-performance multi-core processors serve as the foundational hardware for intelligent computing systems. Compared to traditional multi-core CPU processors, they achieve higher processing performance and lower power consumption by densely integrating multiple general-purpose processing cores with heterogeneous specialized accelerator units on the chip. Currently, high-performance multi-core processors are widely employed in commercial sectors such as cloud data centers, edge processing nodes, and terminal devices. This paper analyzes and summarizes the research achievements of leading global institutions in high-performance processor chip development, including Intel, AMD, IBM, ARM, etc. The focus is on novel multi-core processors such as Intel's Alder Lake series with heterogeneous cores, AMD's latest Zen3 processing core, IBM's new Power10 processor, and Telum processor. The paper also outlines the key technological trends in the development of these multi-core processors, providing a foundational technological support for the future hardware platform development of intelligent computing systems.
