Flat, Gateway-free, Infinite MANET Architecture with Variable Cell Size Cellular Barrage Relay Networks, and Geographic-Based Hazy Link State Routing

K. Amouris · 2024

This design concept paper presents a flat, gateway-free, infinitely scalable architecture design for Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks (MANETs) that is based on: a) a novel variable cell size SDMA-based channel allocation and power-control method, b) a class of TDMA-based cooperative MANETs called Barrage Relay Networks (BRNs), and c) a geographic-based hazy link state routing approach that applies the ‘near-far’ haziness effect by abstracting connectivity information between progressively larger adjacent cellular geographic regions. We show that the proposed design produces a cellular MANET subnetting architecture that: a) reuses channels geographically, b) does not require any gateway nodes to go between subnets, c) dynamically adapts to localized node density variations, and d) keeps the routing packet overhead growth rate independent from the network size, resulting in an infinitely scalable, ‘plug-n-play’ MANET architecture.
