Survey on TCP Congestion Control in Ad Hoc Wireless Networks

Cao Chongnan, Tian Zhongda · 2024

Wireless Ad hoc network is a type of wireless network and it is the important part of the next generation network. Transfer control protocol (TCP) is the most important transport protocol over the Internet and became the indispensable part of the network stack, in which its congestion control algorithm is the core of the TCP protocol. TCP is originally designed for the wired network. If it still uses TCP original way to carry out the adjustment of the congestion window, it will send node to the network into the data packet far more than the network processing capacity, causing network congestion, resulting in space saturation. This paper introduces the causes of TCP congestion control in wireless Ad Hoc networks. TCP congestion in wireless Ad hoc networks is discussed in three aspects: hidden and exposed terminal, link asymmetry and network reorganization.
