Functional Overview of Bluetooth

Keunwoo Lim · 2024

This chapter provides the summary of the Bluetooth functions so that readers can become aware of the overall architecture of Bluetooth and the differences between each mode, and also the major differences between each specification and its amendments. Pairing of Bluetooth devices occur from interaction of devices defined as a Master and a Slave . The three most general types of data traffic used in Bluetooth are synchronous connection-oriented link, asynchronous connectionless link and broadcast. The recent versions of Bluetooth specification, such as Bluetooth 5.3 or 5.4, actually contains all the information on the implementation of all controllers, the host and the host controller interface. Independent to the core specification of Bluetooth, as well as being independent to the networking aspects, Bluetooth profiles define the role, behaviors and requirements of how a Bluetooth device will act.
