As video games evolve, the design boundaries of game controllers expand accordingly. However, most commercial game controllers are still based on limb-oriented designs. Furthermore, alternative controllers attempting to incorporate other body parts into game control often exhibit a gap between gameplay and control. In light of this, we report in this paper the development of a game mainly controlled by eye movements, Slumber Suburban. We present our process of matching various types of eye movements with suitable game mechanics. Additionally, we identify major usability issues with eye tracking game control through playtesting and document the iterative process of resolving these issues. By summarizing insights from the development process, we aim to broaden the understanding of human-computer interaction within the field of gaming and provide insights for future developments in eye tracking game control.
