The inception of the Internet of Things (IoT) has led to an advanced generation for interconnected devices and systems, bringing unprecedented convenience and efficiency to various domains and it is continuously developing. However, this surge in connectivity has also exposed a multitude of security vulnerabilities that alarmed the integrity and privacy of these smart devices and data. In the coming years, it is anticipated that the issue of safety will escalate to a critical juncture. This paper comprehensively explores the challenges associated with safeguarding IoT devices through the innovative application of blockchain technology. its inherent characteristics that make it suitable for strengthening the IoT security are detailed. The union of IoT systems with blockchain is examined, alongside the questions that arise during implementation. The paper highlighted the current solutions that integrate blockchain technology into IoT security. Future directions for research and development are proposed to address the complex challenges that remain, ensuring the continued advancement of secure IoT ecosystems
