This Paper was first published in the Proceedings of the Aristotelian Society 11 ( 1910 -11): 108-28, and reprinted in Mysticism and Logic (1918), pp. 209-32. Russell read it to a meeting of the Society on 6 March 1911. The published minutes record that T. Percy Nunn was in the Chair and that several members took part in the discussion which followed the reading. Two evenings earlier Russell read his paper to the 108th meeting of the Oxford University Philosophical Society. The meeting was well-attended, but only eight auditors participated in the discussion.
