ROVOX: An Alexa-Equipped Object Detection Rover

Adithya Anup, Sourav Paul, S. Vidhya · 2024

This research introduces ROVOX, a smart rover system designed for a variety of uses, leveraging stateof-the-art technology to enhance its capabilities and user experience. At its core, ESP32 microcontroller coordinates operations, interfacing with essential components such as the TB6612 motor driver and HC-SR04 sensor. The ESP32 microcontroller guarantees effective processing and coordination. On the other hand, the TB6612 motor driver permits strong movement over a variety of terrain. Enabling thorough environmental evaluation, ROVOX incorporates the ESP32 Cam module to capture sharp images for object detection. By utilising Google Vision on a local server, the proposed system quickly recognises objects and environmental characteristics and provides users with insightful information. With a backend cloud server and MQTT broker, ROVOX seamlessly integrates voice command features with Amazon Alexa. The simple command execution for navigation and task execution made possible by this integration improves user engagement and control.
