Micro:bit for STEAM Education

Patrik Voštinár · 2024

Teaching programming in primary schools has rapidly changed during the last years. Many schools bought a very popular educational board BBC micro:bit which is suitable for practising programming thinking. This contribution deals with the use of micro:bit for STEAM education through the experimental box extension. In this paper, we describe teaching using this kit with a demonstration of one methodology. We conducted research on a sample of 134 students to investigate whether this extension is suitable for motivational workshops for computer scientists. The results showed that this kit is interesting for pupils, but we recommend other more suitable extensions for mainstream pupils.
