License plate reader (LPR) cameras are part of a complete surveillance system when you want to track more than just the people entering and exiting your property. New high-resolution cameras with processing units and software can capture images of license plates on vehicles and instantly compare them with millions of records to identify vehicles of interest and alert security officers with an audible or visual alarm when there is a “match.” Mobile and fixed license plate reader technology is available, and some IP cameras can be converted to LPR cameras.
