This research introduces a novel visual cryptographic scheme using colour QR codes to enhance data security in defence applications. The method involves encrypting a secret image into shares that are embedded within a QR code using steganography and Shamir's Secret Sharing algorithm. Experimental findings demonstrate that our proposed technique outperforms existing methods in terms of visual quality, compatibility with various image sizes, and the ability to reconstruct images accurately. The combination of steganography, pixel permutation, and Shamir's Secret Sharing algorithm provides a high level of protection for sensitive data stored in QR codes. The integration of visual cryptography with colour QR codes offers a secure and efficient method for storing and exchanging sensitive information in defence applications. By leveraging advanced encryption techniques and secure sharing algorithms, our approach ensures that confidential data remains protected from unauthorized access.
