How Do Employee Characteristics and Perception Shape the Willingness to Work with Service Robot: A Study of Hotel Employees in Dhaka, Bangladesh

Purpose - This study aimed to examine hotel employees' willingness to work with service robots, considering their gender, age, level of education, and previous work experience with service robots.Design, data, and methodology - Data was collected from conveniently selected 225 hotel employees in Dhaka, Bangladesh through online and offline survey during the period from October 6 to December 22, 2022. Descriptive analyses and an EFA, and an hierarchical multiple regression anlysis were used for data analysis.Result - The results revealed that female employees showed less interest in working with service robots. Employees with a higher level of education perceived service robots compatible to work with, and previous work experience with service robots positively influenced the acceptance of service robots. PU and PEOU were found to be strong drivers of acceptance of service robots as co-workers.Conclusions - This study provides valuable insights for researchers and managers in hospitality industry to consider when service robots are introduced in the field.
