Ethical Machine Learning for Future Applications

Machine learning (ML), the fundamental component of artificial intelligence (AI), is fast changing how people live their lives as people depend more and more on these so-called “smart machines” for anything from simple tasks to important life decisions. Over the past 10 years, the main focus of the development of smart cities has been the reduction of traffic congestion. The smooth flow of traffic, road safety, and brief communication delays between vehicles and Roadside Units (RSUs) are the key issues with Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITSs). Due to the rapid increase in the number of automobiles on the road, traffic congestion and the number of accidents has increased. To reduce these issues smart cities are being developed. This chapter covers research and analysis of smart cities using ML including a discussion on ethical ML.
