The diverse applications in the smart ecosystem in which almost all human beings participate always cause fear that their sensitive data may be misused. The fear of privacy attackers motivated us to design a novel method for privacy preservation in cyber-physical systems. The popular methods are based on anonymity mechanisms which are computationally expensive in the context of IoT-based systems. Hence, the information theoretical approaches are gaining popularity due to their representational power and robustness. In this research work, we advocate a technique of privacy preserving the entropy method which fares better than current state-of-the-art methods for privacy preservation in a cyber-physical ecosystem. The proposed approach is nearly 2% better in performance when it comes to hide the sensitive data of a user. Also, due to its intrinsic principle based on entropy, the adversary will fail to extract private data of the user even if the threat model involved is dynamic in nature as a time variant approach is also used in the proposed mechanism.
