Robotics can promote Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics education as well as 21st-century skills such as creativity and computational thinking.Nevertheless, robotics is not a mandatory part of the curriculum in many countries. One possible solution could be to integrate robotics into existing subjects such as science.Integrating robotics may be challenging because teachers lack relevant pedagogical and technological competencies, and their self-efficacy is correspondingly low.In this study, we examined how a task-centered teacher development program for integrating robotics in science education can be used to foster competencies science teachers need to integrate robotics activities into their teaching. We found that the task-centered instructional strategy is an approach that can potentially foster teachers' competencies to integrate robotics activities into science education.
