A Silicon Photonic Universal Cellular Automaton

Herein, we demonstrate the first silicon photonic cellular automaton. Results were measured using p-n junction microring resonators on a silicon photonic platform. Demonstrated are the rules 90, 250 and 110 cellular automata, signifying that this computing system is Turing complete and can compute any program.
