Breast cancer is more easily treated and often curable if it is found early, self-breast exam and screening by mammography combined with clinical breast exam is most effective detection method. Breast Self-Examination should be performed monthly in order to discover changes in breast tissue, the onset of pain in the breast area. 80% of lumps are not cancerous. Be sure to do the breast self-examination the same time every month. If you are still menstruating, Kruper recommends you do the exam about seven to 10 days after your menstrual cycle, since at that time there will likely be fewer cycle-related changes in the breast tissue. Women who are postmenopausal can do the exam at any time of the month, as long it is around the same time each month. Patients who perform BSE regularly know what their breast tissue normally feels like. Typically, there will not be any detectable anomalies in their breast tissue, unless they carry out the exam just prior to menstruation or during pregnancy when breasts may seem more lumpy and tender. Breast Self-Examination is one of the easiest methods to prevent breast cancer. The knowledge of the teacher’s has an important role in the society. They can perform breast self-examination. Their knowledge can play a pivotal role in prevention of breast cancer.
