This research paper presents a pioneering exploration into the development of a Sign Language to Text Translator (SLTT) that leverages an ontological framework. The study adopts a systematic approach, encompassing the definition of a structured knowledge representation, the mapping of sign language gestures to corresponding English text, and the implementation of a real-time translation system. The incorporation of an ontological framework provides a structured foundation, augmenting the accuracy and adaptability of the translator. The project seamlessly integrates both manual input simulation and potential machine learning models to enhance sign language recognition. The primary objective is to create an effective and versatile solution for mitigating communication barriers between the deaf and hearing communities.
