Collaborative Project Delivery Models
Atle Engebø, Ola Lædre · 2024
Various project delivery models have been developed in the pursuit of delivering projects more effectively. Collaboration is currently a notable trend in delivery models, reflecting a strategic shift by owners towards new frameworks for project delivery and engagement with project stakeholders. These models aim to align the interests of owners with those of the project supply chain. Different regions and countries have developed their approaches, including Project Partnering (PP), Project Alliances (PA), and Integrated Project Delivery (IPD). This chapter will provide a brief introduction to the realm of collaborative project delivery models. The literature showcases an almost limitless list of potential elements, mechanisms, and features that can be adopted for the project delivery model, making them highly customizable. The primary purpose of this chapter will be to review the core mechanisms found in these strategies, including procurement- and contract strategies, integrative features, and the role of the project team as the key driver for collaboration.
