Accounting for Application Programming Interface(API) calls is a major issue in the Internet of Things(IoT) world which either leads to the clients paying more or the service providers being underpaid. To address this issue our work proposes a methodology that enables API calls with micropayments that flow between IoT devices and the service provider’s server using Nano(abbreviation: XNO; compatible ISO 4217 symbol: Ӿ) blockchain technology. These micropayments are actual asset transfer transaction information recorded on the blockchain that are included as part of client requests; the API server verifies the blockchain ledger before providing the service. Each micropayment uses the clients private key and securely pays only for the required API request as a form of XNO value transfer which can be as small as a fraction of a cent. Anyone can audit the public XNO blockchain ledger in times of dispute making this methodology also transparent and trustworthy.
