Security of electronic records (EHRs) is of foremost significance in the medical services industry, given the delicate idea of patient information. The existing restrictions on the use of private and public blockchains in healthcare include issues of scalability, data transmission latency restricting interactions between the different systems. By providing a tamper-proof, decentralized, and permission environment for storing and sharing patient data, consortium blockchain can improve the security of electronic health records (EHRs) by overcoming the drawbacks of private and public blockchains. The consortium blockchain is the combination of private and public blockchain, where it converges the advantages of both the blockchain. The proposed model restricts data sharing and transmission among patients and doctors by the validation of their roles using smart contracts. It increases transparency and security as the health records are managed by both the patients and doctors.
