The goal of the project is to focus on the network security when connecting to a public router to access the internet. The particular platform which is focused for this project is Debian 11 a Linux distribution to deploy a honeypot in the default gateway region. The honeypot is strategically integrated into the network using sockets generated by the default gateway of the Kali Linux platform. The primary objective is to provide comprehensive protection for individual systems by actively detecting and deterring potential attackers. The implementation utilizes Ruby as the main programming language. In the event of an attacker attempting to infiltrate the network by connecting to the same network, the honeypot immediately triggers, and the relevant information about the attacker is promptly relayed to the authorized user. This proactive approach ensures that the security measures in place not only detect but also respond effectively to potential threats, thereby enhancing the overall resilience of the system. The project aims to contribute to the field of cybersecurity by offering a robust and dynamic solution for network protection. The integration of Ruby as the programming language further enhances the flexibility and extensibility of the honeypot deployment. Here we consider the guardian box as the honeypot deployed for the Debian 11 also consider as Kali Linux. The outcome is a comprehensive security infrastructure that actively safeguards individual systems from potential cyber threats within a networked environment.
