Abstract Drawing on access to Delta Air Lines corporate archives, this is the first environmental history of Delta Airlines, the largest airline in the world. The chapter explores the origins of the firm in Monroe, Louisiana, in the 1920s, and the airlines move to Atlanta in the 1940s, where it created its aviation hub atop what once was a racetrack funded by Coca-Cola’s first president, Asa Candler.
