Proof Testing and Window Lifetime

The purpose of a proof test is to demonstrate that a particular piece of hardware has at least the minimum strength to which it is tested. In window lifetime design, we use this tested minimum strength, along with knowledge of slow crack growth, to predict the minimum time to failure expected for the window in service.
