Crime Reporting and Reward Management: A Review

Yogesh Thakare, Madhav Jha, Harsha Hargunani, Pranav Mohgaonkar, Yashkumar Jain · 2024

Due to the complexity and inconvenience of the current crime reporting processes, many crimes in India go unreported. Especially if the offender is prominent in some way, witnesses may be reluctant to come forward with information about a crime for fear of reprisal from the offender or their associates. The current system's burdensome complaint filing process also discourages reporting of minor crimes, hence a large percentage of crimes, both major and petty, go unsolved. The fact that evidence in present systems can be easily tampered with or destroyed is another problem. In order to overcome these obstacles, this study investigates how blockchain-based systems might be used to improve existing reporting and evidence storage processes. This paper discusses the pros and cons of several solutions proposed in the evaluated studies that aim to address these issues. This publication gives a complete perspective for academics seeking to solve these difficulties by summarizing the available findings and grouping the studies together.
