This paper investigates the convergence of edge computing, cloud computing, and the Internet of Things (IoT). Given the exponential growth of IoT devices, a robust infrastructure is necessary to manage the vast volumes of generated data. Cloud computing offers on-demand access to shared computing resources over the internet, but solely relying on it may pose security risks and connectivity issues. Edge computing mitigates these concerns by enabling faster processing closer to devices, reducing dependency on constant connectivity. The paper examines the advantages and challenges of both edge and cloud computing for IoT and explores how they can complement each other to create a resilient framework for IoT data management. Additionally, it assesses the current research landscape and proposes potential avenues for future development in this field.
