Data is widely used in communication over the internet in today’s society. As a result, internet users’ primary worry is information security. The best approach is to utilize a cryptography method that encrypts data in a cipher, sends it over the internet, and then decrypts it back to the original data. The field of cryptography is concerned with the secure transmission of data. The idea is to allow intended recipients of a communication to receive it correctly while preventing eavesdroppers from comprehending it. Cryptography is a set of techniques for scrambling or obscuring data so that it is only accessible to those who can restore it to its original state. Cryptography provides a solid, cost-effective foundation for keeping data classified and validating data integrity in today’s computer systems. While traditional cryptography approaches like AES (encryption) and RSA (signing) function well on computers with sufficient processing power and memory, they don’t scale well in an environment with embedded systems and sensor networks. As a result, lightweight cryptography approaches are offered to overcome many of the problems associated with traditional cryptography. This study adds to the body of knowledge in the field of classical cryptography by proposing a new hybrid method of plaintext encryption. The encryption is done by first encrypting the plaintext with Vigenere Cipher and then using the ciphertext to encrypt the plaintext with Polybius Cipher.
