Review of feasibility of IoT Protocols for 5G Industrial & Mobile Applications

Danish Ahmed Mukadam, Swapnil M. Hirikude · 2023

Wireless and Mobile technology is experiencing rapid growth in terms of technology advancements and also in subscribed users. This is due to the pathbreaking advantages to these technologies in terms of almost all the Quality of Service (QoS) Parameters in many applications in all fields of life. Internet of Things (IoT) is one such platform which is largely dependent on and driving the future advancements. With the roll out of 5G specifications and technology readiness it has become interesting to check its feasibility to particular and specific applications using IoT or Industrial IoT (IIoT). This largely depends on the underlying protocol used for the communication between devices. MQTT, CoAP, AMQP, XMPP, WAP, HTTP and DDS are some of the protocols which are reviewed in this study and a comparative analysis is presented for the benefit of the researchers and developers for the implementation.
