Multiplication and Division Problem Types

In this chapter, we will discuss the research-based problem structures for arrays, equal groups, and multiplicative comparison. We discuss a cycle of engagement which looks at teaching and learning using concrete, pictorial, and abstract representations of the various story types. We will talk about which activities to use and how to develop a deeper level of understanding. We will talk about the different levels of word problems and where to get resources to teach them.
