Intelligent Virtual Worlds: A Survey of the Role of AI in the Metaverse

The metaverse has developed into an intriguing and dynamic environment that has the potential to alter how people communicate with computers and each other fundamentally. Due to its enormous potential for constructing immersive and intelligent virtual worlds, the metaverse has inspired strong interest and investment from a wide range of businesses, including gaming, entertainment, education, and social networking. The importance of artificial intelligence (AI) as a potent tool for developing intelligent and responsive virtual environments is central to this conception of the metaverse. This survey paper examines the most recent advancements in AI technology and their uses and roles. It provides a thorough review of the present status of AI in the metaverse. We emphasize the potential for AI to completely change how we engage with virtual worlds and one another by identifying significant trends and future directions for research and development in this field.
