Mobile ad-hoc networks (MANET) have a variety of characteristics that set them apart from other networks. MANET presents a substantial problem in the deployment of a routing protocol architecture despite having several distinctive features and being ubiquitous. In regards to energy use, resource utilization, and packet delivery, this becomes even more challenging. With the successful construction of a MANET routing protocol, this is possible. Thus, the aim of this study is to design an energy-efficient routing protocol while preserving quality of service. A Crescent Zone–based Location Aided Routing (CZLAR) protocol that integrates the zone routing technique with location-assisted node selection methods is presented. Massive mobile nodes and large zone sizes are two more performance metrics that the CZLAR is trying to achieve. In both low- and high-density networks, the CZLAR protocol exhibits efficiency by resulting in a greater packet delivery ratio. According to the simulation results, the CZLAR significantly improves packet delivery ratio compared to the current protocol while significantly reducing energy consumption.
