Statistical Regularities in the Musical Work of Marin Marais, Pièces de Viole Des Cinq Livres

This study analyzes the spectrum of audio signals related to the work of “Pièces de viole des Cinq Livres” based on the music of Marin Marais, performed by Jordi Savall. In particular, we aim to identify the statistical regularity underlying this musical work. Based on the complex systems approach, we compute the spectrum of audio signals and analyze and identify their best-fit statistical distributions. Findings suggest that the collection of frequency components related to the spectrum of each of the audiobooks shows highly skewed and associated statistical distributions, in particular the presence of the exponential statistical distribution.
