EXPLORING THE INFLUENCE OF PERSONALITY TRAITS ON STUDENTS' INFORMATION SECURITY RISK-TAKING BEHAVIORS: A BFI ASSESSMENT

The pandemic has boosted online activity and caused a rise in cyber threats and crime. In response, the study aimed to identify Big Five Inventory (BFI) characteristics that determine a student's risk status. A quantitative approach was employed, and 311 undergraduate students were randomly selected as respondents. The survey instrument assessed BFI characteristics, security knowledge, IT service usage, and security practices. Spearman correlation analysis revealed that BFI characteristics The BFI characteristics that indicate the highest relevance to being At Risk fall under Neuroticism (33.33%). Universities can develop tailored solutions and effective security measures that target specific personality traits, thereby enhancing overall information security.
