The adoption of the Internet of Things (IoT) has a significant impact on every aspect of our environment .IoT integrated smart healthcare is leading the way as it provides continuous remote patient monitoring (RPM). In the past, the healthcare sector has produced a lot of data. In order to interpret the data, it is necessary for the health data to be kept securely. In RPM, measurements are made of physiological variables such as pulse rate, skin temperature, blood pressure, ECG (Electrocardiogram), oxygen saturation, and blood sugar levels. According to current research, telehealth and Remote Patient Monitoring systems may provide an ideal environment for opportunistic security breaches. The existing IoTbased RPM system does face a number of difficulties, including scalability, security and privacy concerns, single points of failure (SPOF), and loss of trust. One of the innovative technologies that have the potential to overcome these difficulties is blockchain. A blockchain-based system makes it difficult for an adversary to alter (or delete) data because data is stored across the decentralized nodes and each block is linked to previous one. The main objective of this study is to find the effective tools and technologies for remote patient monitoring. Moreover, this study also discovers the most effective data exchange protocols for RPM environment and find out the message queuing telemetry transport protocol and constraint oriented application protocol as a most effective data communication protocols. Further this study also reveals the way of integrating the blockchain technology with IoT based RPM systems.
