Student identity verification solution using verifiable credentials on solana blockchain

Harishkumar Choudhary, Kalpesh Ahire, Rohini Sarode · 2024

This research paper proposes a student identity verification solution using verifiable credentials on Solana blockchain. The proposed solution utilizes the high transaction per second (tps) and low gas fees offered by the Solana blockchain to provide a fast, secure, and cost-effective means of verifying student identities on blockchain. This study investigates the application of a verifiable credentials system using the Solana blockchain. Solana is a promising platform for creating decentralised applications due to its high throughput and inexpensive gas costs. The verifiable credentials system on Solana is described in detail in this paper along with its architecture and benefits over more conventional centralised solutions. The study also evaluates the system’s performance in comparison to other blockchain-based options for verifiable credentials. A scalable solution for massive credential management, the evaluation demonstrates that the Solana-based system achieves high transaction throughput and low latency. This research paper highlights the Solana blockchain’s advantages over other blockchain platforms and shows how it can be used to build effective and secure verifiable credentials systems. Future research directions for enhancing the system’s functionality and usability are discussed in the paper’s conclusion.
