Troubleshooting OSPF Neighborship Issues in the Network-Data Lab Environment using Eve-NG Tool

Amit Sharma, Anil Kumar, Mahesh Kumar · 2024

In today’s IT world, open shortest path first (OSPF) is one of the protocols that is used in local area networks (LAN) in production environments. A lot of work has been done on the OSPF protocol. Researchers have done comparisons of this link state protocol with other protocols. Some of them have worked specifically on ospf area. Work on optimization of the OSPF link state advertisement (LSA) flooding process is also done. Once the network is live, troubleshooting is the key to minimizing the impact in the case of outage. Once an issue is identified, it can be fixed. Sometimes wrong change performed in the network also causes an impact. Troubleshooting is the key during the time of impact to minimize the disruption. Here in this paper, various scenarios are discussed where OSPF neighborship may break in the live production environment, which will help the shift engineer while troubleshooting the issues.
