Improved Patient Care Using Robotics in the Healthcare Industry

In recent years, with technological advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics, medical robots have great potential to support the healthcare industry. These systems are introduced to take care of disabled persons, elders, and children in hospitals, such as by providing walking assistance, rehabilitation, and many more. In today’s world, robots are also used in the surgical theatre to assist surgeons, which results in better post-op outcomes with fewer scars and less surgery time. This chapter presents a detailed description of robotics and its major advantages, challenges, and future, as well as giving real-time examples of robotics that are widely used in healthcare systems.
