Role of Information and Communication Technology in Poverty Analysis and Reduction

In today’s world, poverty is a persistent problem that demands creative solutions for thorough research and practical reduction approaches. The paper explores the transformative potential of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as a catalyst for addressing the intricate dimensions of poverty, analysis, and reduction. It delves into the multidimensional aspects of poverty, considering economic, social, health, education, and political dimensions. Encouraging an ICT-skilled workforce, strengthening network security, and utilizing ICTs in industries like education are all critical to closing the digital divide. Extensive literature is reviewed and the observations are recorded via two aspects. The first section includes a detailed analysis of the factors affecting poverty and involves the techniques to implement poverty alleviation by means of ICTs. The other section includes a table that summarizes various parameters, techniques, and results from numerous research papers – which make up the majority of the contribution towards this paper. Data analysis examines population rank, economic growth, literacy rate, health expenditure and digital development of the ten countries with the highest poverty rates. Overall, the paper offers valuable insights into the intricate relationship between ICT and poverty reduction, providing a comprehensive overview, detailed analysis and actionable recommendations for future research and policy implementation.
