Implementation of Multi-Pattern Search Using Motion Analyser for Motion Estimation

T Nithyoosha, Prayline Rajabai C · 2024

Motion estimation is a computationally complex block in video compression. It accounts for 70% of the power consumption in video encoder. There are many challenges in the implementation of these Motion Estimation algorithms. Block-based techniques are extremely popular for Motion estimation. Fast-search motion estimation methods are widely used but the main challenge of these techniques is block-partitioning, similar to the partitioning scheme in High-Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC). In this paper, a multi-pattern search is implemented for motion estimation using a motion analyzer. Multi-pattern search for motion estimation is a sophisticated technique that significantly improves the efficiency and accuracy of motion prediction in video processing, particularly in scenarios where real-time processing and high compression are required.
