In this era, with the increased adoption of Internet of Things technology in applications like healthcare, transport, energy management, etc., vulnerabilities to cyber-attacks compromising the Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability of Information Security has also increased. The impact of cyber-attacks not only affects the proper functioning of the IoT infrastructure, but is also significant in affecting the economy. Cybersecurity is a field of study that aims to defend cyber-attacks. Blockchain is a promising and trending technology of the decade that plays an important role in ensuring cyber safety. This research work highlights the core concepts of Blockchain technology thereby presenting a detailed survey of its applications for mitigating DDoS attacks in IoT networks. The research work also presents a detailed survey of False Data Injection attacks in the Smart Grid environment.
