A Secure Duplicate Data Sharing Method against Untrusted Cloud Service Provider

Cloud storage allows users to securely store their personal or business data on virtual server clusters provided by Cloud Service Provider (CSP). However, security risks persist in the cloud environment, where the public channels pose a risk of data theft and manipulation, while malicious cloud service providers and trusted third parties can compromise data privacy. Data deduplication, storing only one copy of each item, helps conserve storage resources, but security and privacy preservation remain challenging. To address these issues, we propose a secure duplicate data sharing method, which enables the permission sharing of duplicated data blocks through the secure key management method without a trusted third party. We implemented our scheme on a distributed cluster, and the result showed that it can achieve deduplication under untrusted CSP while imposing minimal additional overhead on the clients (average of 2.62% during uploading and 0.50% during downloading).
