These files are intended for use with the Data Carpentry Image Processing with Python curriculum (https://datacarpentry.org/image-processing/). Files will be useful for instructors teaching this curriculum in a workshop setting, as well as individuals working through these materials on their own. This curriculum uses a variety of example images, chosen to illustrate different concepts and techniques in image processing. Several of the images might be described as biological or scientific - e.g. bacterial colonies, plant seedlings and root clusters, well plates - but others are of common objects, e.g. remote controls, paper shapes, etc. board.jpg: a photograph of a whiteboard covered in writing in two different colours centers.txt: pixel coordinates of the centre of each well in the 96-well plate captured in wellplate-01.jpg chair.jpg: a photograph of an armchair colonies-01.tif: a photograph of bacterial colonies growing on a circular plate of medium colonies-02.tif: a photograph of bacterial colonies growing on a circular plate of medium colonies-03.tif: a photograph of bacterial colonies growing on a circular plate of medium eight.tif: a 5x3 pixel binary image with intensities in the shape of a "8" gaussian-original.png: a drawn image combining text and simple shapes with the primary purpose to demonstrate the effects of blurring on the image maize-root-cluster.jpg: a photograph of a the roots of a maize plant, alongside a hand-written label maize-roots-grayscale.jpg: a grayscale photograph of five maize seedlings with roots growing in laboratory medium, accompanied by a hand-written label maize-seedlings.tif: a photograph of five maize seedlings growing in laboratory medium, accompanied by a hand-written label plant-seedling.jpg: a photograph of a young plant growing next to a hand-written label remote-control.jpg: a photograph of a television remote control shapes-01.jpg: a photograph of a variety of shapes cut out from paper of different colours shapes-02.jpg: a photograph of a variety of shapes cut out from paper of different colours sudoku.png: an image of a typical sudoku puzzle trial-016.jpg: a photograph of a the roots of a maize plant, alongside a hand-written label trial-020.jpg: a photograph of a the roots of a maize plant, alongside a hand-written label trial-216.jpg: a photograph of a the roots of a maize plant, alongside a hand-written label trial-293.jpg: a photograph of a the roots of a maize plant, alongside a hand-written label tree.jpg: a photograph of a tree wellplate-01.jpg: a photograph of a 96-well pate, captured from above wellplate-02.tif : a photograph of a 96-well pate, captured from above
