Blockchain technology is positioned to revolutionize the storing of Electronic Health Records (EHRs), by delivering a safe, open, and effective solution for the medical sector. In the blockchain-based system EHRs are disseminated throughout a decentralized network of nodes in rather than being restricted to centralized databases susceptible to data breaches. Decentralization lowers the possibility of data loss or system failures by ensuring no data redundancy and boosting resilience. Additionally, the immutability of blockchain technology ensures the accuracy of patient information since once data is captured, it is tamper-proof and is shielded against unauthorized additions or deletions. Patient data is encrypted and safeguarded using cryptographic methods for privacy and security, and access controls are controlled via smart contracts. Patients may now control who gets access to their electronic health records with unprecedented discretion, improving privacy and guaranteeing adherence to strict data protection laws. Because every transaction on the blockchain is documented for an indelible and transparent history of data access and alterations, blockchain’s inherent openness and audibility help promote trust and accountability among healthcare stakeholders. By doing away with middlemen, such strategy not only simplifies administrative procedures and lowers costs but also fosters interoperability, allowing for smooth data sharing across various healthcare providers. Blockchain-based EHR storage provides a strong basis for safe, effective, and patient-centric administration of electronic health records as the healthcare sector continues to undergo digital transformation. This will eventually improve patient care and data management on a scalable and sustainable platform.
