By the reassignment of energy with respect to both time and frequency the ReAssigned Fourier Transbrm (RAFT) has potential bene ts over the conventional Fast Fourier Transform (PFT) for speech processing applications. The RAFT s ability to deliver improved spectral resolution, compared to an FFT using the same analysis window sire, has been the initial subject of evaluation in this study.Solar we have demonstrated the RAFT s superiority rm reliably identifying the pixmones present in simple mixtures of two tones. The RAFT can perform the separation more readily than the FFT when the frequencies of the constituent tones are very close. The RAFT has also hear: evaluated with rupect to more realistic speech processing applications such as fundamental frequency (F0) determination.initially using synthetic speech and then using real speech (for which the iuyngograph signal was available) the RAFT has been compared with the FPI in Harms' Sub Harmonic Summation (SHS) FD determination algorithm.Initial indications are that for F0 determination the KAI-T s improved spectral "solution dos not automatically confer bene ts in every case of SHS.However.for instances where the duration of the analysis window is very short the RAFT technique is superior to conventional FFTs for F0 determination using SHSI
