Stimulating Students for Learning through the Maqueen Robot

International Research Journal of Modernization in Engineering Technology and Science · 2024

This experimental study aims to examine the effect of using the Maqueen robot on the stimulation of students during lessons on the subject of ICT technology in secondary schools in Kosovo. The use of robotic technology in junior high school education has the potential to change the learning experience of students by integrating practical and innovative elements into learning. The research will use an experimental research method with an experimental group.Students who are involved in using the Maqueen robot will serve as the experimental group in this study. The selection of this group will be based on certain criteria, such as students' interest in technology and programming skills. The sample will represent 3 teams in the KML Open 20024 robotics competition, from the primary and lower school "Heronjtë e Lumës" Vërmica/Prizren and the primary and lower school "Dëshmorët e Vërrinit" Billushë /Prizren.The teams will be represented by the names "Innovators of Vërmica", "Innovators of Shkoza" and "First of Prizren".The selected group of students will be involved in learning sessions where the Maqueen robot will be used to explore coding skills in a hands-on way.Activities will include programming, project realization, and experiments using the robot.to collect data from students who are involved in using the Maqueen robot in the classroom, a questionnaire will be used as the main tool to obtain the necessary information. The results of the study show a positive change in the participation and engagement of the students who participated in the teaching sessions with the Maqueen robot.Students showed a higher level of motivation and interest in the technology subject with ICT, as well as a deeper understanding of coding content. These findings suggest that the use of robotic technology, such as the Maqueen robot, can be an effective tool to stimulate student participation and engagement in the subject of ICT technology in lower secondary schools. The recommendations of this study provide practical guidance for educators and educational leaders to use robotic technology appropriately to improve the quality of teaching and learning in this important subject.
