Nowadays, there is a need for secure and smart health surveillance techniques among the patients and medical professionals to detect abnormal medical situations in remote places. This chapter enunciates recent and future applications of healthcare systems based on the concept of Internet of Things and cloud computing. The system for recent application is designed to trace the vital medical parameters, such as heart rate, oxygen level in the blood, body temperature, electrocardiograph, position of the patient, etc. The traced-out physical signals are subjected to appropriate processing and encryption methods using Blowfish algorithm before transmitting those signals to the doctor for screening via a cloud server. A Raspberry Pi controller is employed for implementing the above steps and it forwards transmission to the server. On the receiving end, decryption of the measured values is carried out which are then displayed on a dashboard for viewing by authorized doctors. Ultimately, the health status of a patient is monitored periodically at a remote place. The chapter also focuses on the future application named Inexpensive Cardiac Arrhythmia Management System for providing healthcare services in remote places in an effective manner.
